Annual Christmas Jim Harrison Show

Event: Annual Christmas Jim Harrison Show
Date: Saturday, December 2, 2000
Location: Southside Gallery, 1001 Pine Log Road, Aiken,SC
Time: 11:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Jim Harrison's journey as an artist began when he first climbed onto a sign painter's scaffold on the side of McCartha's Hardware in Denmark, South Carolina. The Coca-Cola sign that he began that day was the first of more than 100 similar signs he painted over the next few years. These early experiences shaped the future work of this South Carolinian in many ways. Now, an established artist and writer, Harrison has more than 100 limited edition reproductions to his name. Reminiscent of his earlier experiences as a sign painter, his work is known for chronicling earlier twentieth century rural life. His strong feelings for rural America touch on every aspect of earlier ways of living, and his subjects -- railroad stations, churches, one room school houses, country stores, covered bridges, and farm buildings -- represent the spirit of an agrarian society.

Meet Jim Harrison in person and have your Jim Harrison art personalized. Being a very popular Aiken show, you will want to come early as space is limited. This very collectible artwork makes a great Christmas gift, especially when personalized. Call Tracy Quackenbush, Gallery Director, at (803) 649-6757 to RSVP or for more information.
